carl I would like to take this opportunity to invite all our customers to visit us on Stand E12 at the Interplas exhibition next month. This is an exhibition Negri Bossi always supports as we wholeheartedly believe the UK plastics market is big enough and important enough to justify a national show.

Our commitment to this exhibition is demonstrated by the largest stand space at the show and the launch of two brand new models never before seen in the UK market. We will be running a VE130 Vesta machine from our flagship All Electric range, as well as an 80 tonne EOS model from our brand new two platen small machine range. A full servo three axis robot from our newly acquired Sytrama company as well as a demo of our Amico teleservice facility completes our showing.

It is of paramount importance to the plastics market that Interplas is well attended, and therefore ask that you support the commitment of all the exhibitors by sending down members of your team to learn what technologies are available and ensure your company stays ahead of the field.

Magal Engineering’s ability to respond rapidly to changing circumstances was demonstrated when the company restructured in the first half of 2009, in order to deal with the affects of the unprecedented downturn that hit the industry at the tail end of 2008. The Group now finds itself in a strong position, having launched 7 major projects in the past 12 months and with circa 20 additional new projects in development - all of which will start mass production between now and 2012. The turnover of the group is forecast to rise by 30% over the next 3 years.

Magal Group’s use of composites has increased dramatically in the last 5 years. Customers such as Ford, Renault and Daimler are choosing to adopt Magal Engineering’s design solutions for high volume applications. Composites are used within Magal’s chassis components, such as spare wheel carriers, pedal boxes, jack boxes, and mechanical cable assemblies. Within powertrain components, composites are used in Magal’s thermostat housing assemblies and radiator caps.

To support this growth and ensure continued success of the Group additional capacity was required. Significant investment has been made in capital equipment and the Group continues to recruit in all areas of the business to meet the increased demands. Last year the Magal facility located in Reading (Adwest Western Thomson) acquired 2 new Negri Bossi 380 tonne moulding machines which have proved critical in supporting the increasing demand with reliable, efficient production. Testimony to this success is further investment this year and Magal has just taken delivery of another 380 as well as a 550 tonne machine.
