New "Intelligent Digital" VS Series – From 1,200 kN to 4,300 kN |
The latest addition to the Negri Bossi range is the new CANBIO VS, a series of compact, ergonomic and precise machines. An evolution of the CANBIO V series, the CANBIO VS series once again features a digital control system which means outstanding reliability, user-friendliness and easy maintenance.
The CANBIO VS is a fully hydraulic range of machines which incorporate a combination of cutting edge design, improved manufacturing processes and value engineering with the net result: a range of efficient, accurate, reliable and cost effective machines aimed at the general purpose and technical markets.
The machines cover tonnage groups from 110 to 430 tonnes with a large range of injection units and screw profiles to suit customers applications.
The CANBIO VS offers several interesting new features as standard. For example there is the patented plasticising unit fast changeover system, off-line low pressure oil filtration and the all-new, highly innovative Columbia control. The real development, though is the compact twin-cylinder injection unit that, despite the more generous platen dimensions and tie-bar spacing, makes the new CANBIO VS even more compact than the previous V series.
Thanks to fully digital control and innovative engineering solutions, this machine blends high precision with greatly reduced consumption.
The new range continues with the highly successful CANBIO platform of CanBus network control, whilst digital variable displacement pumps equipped with integrated electronic control of pressure and speed ensures the lowest energy consumption of any hydraulic machine on the market.
The off-line low pressure oil filtration system has been added to extend oil quality. This facility increases hydraulic system reliability and ensures high machine performance with much longer periods between oil changes. The quantity of oil has also been reduced which in turn allows the necessary energy for cooling to be reduced to a minimum.
Unlike its sister CANBIO series, the CANBIO VS range has limited customisable options, but is targeted at moulders who want short delivery times of reliable, efficient, cost effective machines.
 The CANBIO VS features improved tie bar spacing and larger platens than the CANBIO range while maintaining its characteristic flexibility thanks to the use of quick coupling ejector system and the T-slots mould clamping system.
An important advantage of the new series is the sealed lubrication chambers on the tie bars and sealed bearings on the platen slides. This will be particularly beneficial to moulders who have a requirement to reduce product contamination.
The frame of the machine is open on both sides allowing easy moulded part removal from either the front or back of the machine.
High stiffness platens with long platen bushes along with the platen guides below the moving platen provide increased control of the parallelism between the moving and fixed platens and, consequently, the mould. This creates less wear on the moulds and provides higher closing precision. |
 A key feature to this new range is the inclusion of twin injection cylinders for the injection unit.
This is a step away from Negri Bossi's traditional in-line injection unit and provides the CANBIO VS range with a shorter footprint than the previous V Series.
The extremely compact unit comes with high injection capacities and a quick barrel change system.
The injection unit is particularly rigid and accurately guided due to the use of two
linear prismatic guides with re-circulating bearings.
A highly homogenous plasticisation is guaranteed by the long L/D ratio of all screws (21:1 for the medium diameter).
The patented plasticising unit fast changeover system features a bayonet coupling of the plasticising screw directly onto the drive motor and complete plasticising unit replacement can be completed in just 15 minutes.
The hydraulic group uses digital variable displacement pumps with integrated electronic control of pressure and speed permitting higher energy savings.
Additionally, the hydraulic group uses an “OFF LINE” low pressure filtration system, a separate circuit with a small hydraulic pump sends the oil from the tank into the heat exchanger and then to the filter with a reduced flow and pressure. This way, the oil maintains it’s viscosity and protection characteristics for a longer period of time assuring higher reliability and performance. The quantity of oil required is also reduced, which in turn allows the necessary energy for cooling to be reduced to a minimum.
For these reasons we can say that CANBIO VS is a very ecological machine.
A cutting-edge electric-hydraulic system provides rational, efficient use of energy even when the IMM is being used at maximum performance levels. Digital networking of servo-pumps and proportional distributors ensures outstanding communication efficiency with the machine control and also allows components to be monitored and set-up directly from the control.

New Columbia Control System |
 The new COLUMBIA control system has a similar user interface to the user friendly Dimi EL2 employed on other Negri Bossi machines but now includes the addition of transponder operator identification, integrated wireless interface for Amico, quick access keys and a new on line help system while a 15” TFT screen is provided for easy viewing in difficult lighting conditions.
The transponder electronic key enables operator identification and software level access to enable a greater security of setting parameters.
Other features include State of the art Celeron M PC, integrated wireless interface, PC/Video DVI – SDL connection, alpha-numerical keyboard, quick access keys, ring keys with high brightness led technology (patented) and the new on-line help allowing high speed navigation thanks to a wider number of direct link buttons.
Thanks to the Amico system it is possible to oversee, from a remote location, the machine network: it allows the monitoring of not only typical injection moulding parameters but also the CAN network status, making it possible to operate the machine from a remote PC connected to the Internet just as if one was beside the machine.
The high capacity PC based control with a real time operating system and JAVA platform offers easy and intuitive
adjustments (stroke, speed, pressure , temperature, etc.), increased stability, scalability and improved mobility.
